A USB flash drive is a small portable flash memory card that plugs into a computer's USB port and functions as a portable Hard Drive.
USB flash drives are touted as being easy-to-use as they are small enough to be carried in a pocket and we can plug them into any computer.
USB flash drives have less storage capacity than an external hard drive and smaller in size but they are more durable because they do not contain any internal moving parts.
USB flash drives are also called by a variety of names such as thumb drives, jump drives, pen drives, key drives, or simply USB drives.
You can load up your flash drive with Portable Applications (like Firefox, Java and even some games) that allow you access your favorite Software without having installed it on your computer.
It is possible to create a Bootable Operating System with a USB flash drive and use it when you face a system crash.
We can use a USB flash drive as a key to your computer. This means you can access your computer only when you plug that USB flash drive into your PC. If the USB flash drive is removed, the Pc will automatically lock itself and will not allow access until you plug in the USB flash drive back.
